It was good to see you all at the Club BBQ. Sorry to see you weren’t feeling the best Radar.

SECRETARYS REPORT:
Hi all.
Hope you all enjoyed the BBQ and had a good Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I’m still frantic at work with the stuff I’m involved in for the new Northern Busway opening, so again, it’s going to be a slightly smaller magazine than usual. However, it should be back to normal as from the February magazine as I get back to bus driving—mind you, I’ll probably have forgotten how to by then. Having done the Left & Right books (specific instructions on where to go and exactly how to get there), I’ll know which way to go off by heart—just not how to drive the bus!
Once again we are doing the Music in Parks season, with a new man in charge. At this stage I don’t have a copy of the schedule, so you won’t find it in the Events List. It will appear once I get a copy of the information. Cheers Barbie .
COMMUNICATIONS REPORT:
Well the ‘Music in Parks’ events are now underway. We did the Myers Park event on 5th January which started the New Year off well. The next event which will have happened by the time you read this is the annual ‘Elvis in the Park’ at Waitakere which is becoming a very popular event. (It is sponsored by Solid Gold FM and being advertised on the radio - Ed.)
We are also looking at a WVCC event at Pebblebrook, possibly on 24th February—this will be confirmed once we know whether it clashes with another event. Fortunately they are flexible on this one and will move it if there is a clash.
I hope you all survived the Christmas/New Year period and are ready to roll again for the coming year.
We are looking to do a working bee on PRS5 South, prepatory to putting it on site—this will depend on people’s availability. I can almost guarantee that as soon as we set a day—that will be the day that the VHF Group will decide to do Klondyke—though usually they pick the Lantern Festival to do this. I still hope to get up there sooner—once I can get the event dates finalised. I will see what I can do.
In the meantime I hope those who are able to, will be available again this year to assist at events.
Finally, we have just been notified from the ‘powers that be’ that next year the annual licence fee for the repeaters goes up to $300 per year (each) - does make you wonder what we are getting for the money? Especially as we are a non-profit club. Still most of our major expenses are behind us so covering it should not be problem, I just cannot see why the sudden hike to that extent. Ours not to reason why—ours just to pay and cry.
Cheers Brian.
